Green Dreams of Reason. Green Nanotechnology Between Visions of Excess and Control
Schwarz, Astrid E.
Vol. 3, Num. 2
This paper tries to ignore the political undertones of nanotechnology becoming a green technology and take seriously the ways in which the emerging field could have a major impact on environmental concerns. Though not necessarily in a negative sense, the author purports that both nanodiscourse and ecodiscourse share visions of control and of excess, especially in its American iteration. A concentration on control and regulation almost seems natural in an emerging field such as nanotechnology, though the implications for green sciences mean that development is still necessary, so long as it is done cautiously.
